Life Safety Systems

Since 2001, AST, Inc., has been a full-service life-safety systems integrator with experience in system design, installation, inspections, service, and monitoring for fire alarm systems.

Fire Alarms for Commercial Business and Government

The obvious primary goal of life safety fire systems is to detect fire emergencies and allow safe egress for building occupants. A secondary goal is to mitigate the potential loss from fire.

Since 2001, AST has designed more than 275 life safety fire systems, including retrofits for existing or historical buildings and comprehensive configurations for new construction, both domestically and overseas. AST’s fire system designs address the primary goal of safe egress and also consider the possible impact of falling debris or collapse during structural failure and hazardous materials that might discharge or explode during fire emergencies. We design each system specifically to meet applicable relevant codes and regulations for each unique facility. Our in-house AutoCAD® department creates professional design drawings reviewed and approved by our resident NICET IV technician.

For most domestic installations, we coordinate with local Fire Marshals to ensure a smooth transition from design to installation. AST has designed, installed, inspected, maintained, or repaired fire systems for independent school districts, day-care centers, medical centers, gymnasiums, auto dealerships, retail shopping centers, office buildings, and hospitality facilities in the greater Houston area and the I-10 corridor eastward to Beaumont, Texas. In 2014, as part of our ongoing installation of technical security systems at overseas diplomatic facilities, AST expanded its capabilities and began designing and installing fire alarm systems for the U.S. Department of State and general contractors who build or renovate U.S. embassies and consulates.

We also provide monitoring services for fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
